Tim is definitely no stranger to hockey and to this community. Tim served six seasons as a volunteer assistant coach for the Ferris State University Hockey Program, where his duties included both on and off ice activities, as well as serving as the video and statistician coordinator for the program.
Tim is currently in his second year as the Assistant Director of Facilities for Ferris State Athletics.
He is also in the midst of his twelfth year as the program director for the Big Rapids Junior Hockey Association, and has additionally served as an assistant coach for the Cardinals prior to being appointed head coach in May 2005.
Blashill is the younger brother of current Grand Rapids Griffins Head Coach Jeff Blashill who is also an alumnus of Ferris State Hockey.
The Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., native arrived to Ferris State following a four-year (1996-2000) collegiate playing career at Fredonia (N.Y.) State. In his career, the Blue Devil defenseman registered four points along with 80 penalties for 211 minutes in 59 outings. Prior to attending Fredonia State, Blashill played in the Junior "A" hockey ranks for the Indianapolis (Ind.) Ice of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) during the 1994-95 campaign. Following that season, Blashill played the 1995-96 campaign with the Sault Ste. Marie (Mich.) Indians of the NAHL. A 1994 graduate of Sault Area High School in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., Blashill competed in ice hockey, football and baseball. He received Most Valuable Defenseman accolades in hockey during his senior season. Blashill graduated with a bachelor's degree in history from Ferris State, and resides in Weidman with his fiancÚ Erin.
